Soul Care: Announcing a DAILY GIVEAWAY!!! (Beginning today)

(Today's giveaway is now closed.  Congrats to Jessica B, the winner!  Check back each day this week for more chances to win!)

Perhaps you've been keeping up with my recent "soul care" series... all based on a wonderful book I'm reading by Steven W. Smith called Embracing Soul Care: Making Space For What Matters Most.  I hope it's been an encouragement for you.

Mr. Smith wrote me and offered up FIVE copies of this amazing book for me to give away through Making Home... I'm so jazzed!  Thank you so much to Stephen Smith for this great giveaway!

So many of you have written me, commented, and/or facebooked me, saying what an encouragement these ideas have been to you, and so I can't wait to let FIVE of you get your hands on his amazing book!

Every day this week you will have an opportunity to win this book.  Each day, I'll ask you to answer one question in the comments & leave your name & e-mail information (so that I can get in contact with you if you win)!

TODAY, the question is:

Which phrase would you say BEST DESCRIBES the current state of your physical body/physical health?
  1. Used up & spent
  2. Weary but still moving
  3. Mediocre.
  4. Doing pretty good, feeling pretty good
  5. Fantastic!

  2. What a generous offer he made! I looked for that book at the library, but they didn't have it. Maybe I'll win it here, then donate it. :)

    I'm somewhere between 2 and 3.

You know how to reach me.

  11. My pride would want to say "doing pretty good," but, to be completely honest, I feel "used up and spent." I know it's just a season, but with a just-turned-3-year old and a 10-month old I feel like I'm barely hanging on most days. I often look back on my day and wonder how things actually got done! :)

  16. Jess here. I'm not entering to win, but just wanted to answer... it makes me kind of sad and kind of just nod knowingly that so many of us answer #1 or #2. :) Motherhood is not for the faint of heart or faint of body.

I'm @ about a #2 also. This last week in particular has been ROUGH.

So far the odds to win are pretty good for those of you who have entered.

  17. Somewhere between a 2 and a 3. TRying to get motivated to take myself in hand.

BTW, Jess, I'm in Scotland, so totally understand if I'm not eligible for the competition. I just really like your blog.

  18. I think I'm at a 3-4 because I feel like I'm pulling out of a season of 1-2ness. My youngest is 2 and these last 2 years have been challenging with my crew of 3 kids. Spring has been good - I'm more able to get out and run, or walk, or just be in the beautiful sunshine with my kids.

Thanks for the giveaway! How exciting that the author is giving you books to give away! I appreciate your blog, Jess. You're keeping it real as a mom and follower of Jesus. :)

  19. #2 - Due soon with #4 and homeschooling and keeping up with #3. But God is kind and I'm just glad that I'm still moving at this point.

I appreciate your blog so much, Jess. Glad you're still posting.

  20. Yes! So generous of the author to make this possible! Hmmm...I'd have to say generally I am #2 weary but still moving.

Although, if I am drinking coffee it would temporarily move up to #4, but then at the end of the day I am worse off.

  22. What a great giveaway!!! Wow!

As far as my physical health - I WAS doing pretty good until I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis a little over a year ago. Now I'm "weary but still moving". Kind of hard to have this chronic disease when you have a gaggle of young children.....

  23. I'm gonna say between 3 and 4. Physical condition is actually not much of a problem at this time, but mental, emotional and financial too, are all pretty much running on fumes a lot of the time. I hope I'm entering on time!!! (UGH the comment moderation words... I can't get them right.)

  24. between 3 and 4, but closer to 4. Too many health issues in my family not to make my health a priority.
